Default Part fell off front end - need help

Hey all,

We were our driving our 14 v6. My wife pulled too far forward and up over a parking curb. When she backed up, there was a popping and tearing sound, and about 90% of the piece seen below was torn off.

What is this piece? What does it do? How important is it?

You'll be fine lol. Some call it a windage tray, it just helps direct air under the car for less drag. Just to be safe, I'd take a closer look under there just to make sure nothing vital was hit. Mainly oil pan.

hahah. I wouldn't just leave it. I would put it back on or find a new one if the old one is warped. It helps with gas mileage by decreasing drag as well as protects the motor/oil pan and all the other mechanics from getting damaged.

Well, dealer wants $242 + install for it. Sounds reasonable.

I did drive it 200 miles on the highway yesterday, no problems without it, still made 30.1 MPG at 75 MPH.

Found it on CJ pony parts for $225: http://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-lowe...00-2013/p/AD7/

Install is super easy if you wanted to do it yourself. If not, hopefully the dealer wont screw you on price.

Interesting to see it didn't decrease fuel economy. Good luck!
