Just got a 86 gt vert and don't have the trunk key. The trunk release button is not working. I even put a hot wire from the fuse box and it just clicks. Anyone have any ideas?

 

Ok.. I got the trunk opened!!! Yay!!!.. under the lock on the trunk was a metal bracket. Was a screw where the rivet use to be. Unscrewed it and pulled the bracket straight down, then use a screw driver to turn the lock. Pop, it opened

The bracket is located between the license plate lights. The rivet was already removed. Then the whole lock system turns easy

 

Saw something like that on my friend's camaro, glad you got it figured out.
