Default Repainting my mustang

As of now I have a 2012 Ford Mustang V6 its Grabber Blue with black stripes down the middle.

I am thinking of switching that up and doing black with grabber blue stripes, but I just want to figure out how much it would cost for repainting. Would be getting a shop to do it. So what would be an average price for a good paint job? If anyone can help.

I hate to state the obvious, but we can't tell you what a shop in your area would charge and it's not like you're going to drive to Texas to use a shop near me that I know. Pick up the phone and call some local paint shops and ask them. A drastic change like that is not cheap to do it properly. You can half-**** it for cheap but plan on you vehicle's value taking a big hit.

+1 ^^^

Local prices vary, but I'd bet your looking at $1500-2500 just for a repaint.

I did my own and now I can appreciate why it costs that much. It is a lot of work.

A good job with stripes on top of that and jamming the doors an deck is gonna run at least in excess of $5k.

Shops always charge way more to change the paint color, so Im guessing closer to 4-5k , I was gonna change the color of my 05 Lincoln and wanted a shop to give me a quote, since it was such a large car they quoted me 6k.

I painted this car in my garage, it was green. The actual painting is easy, its the prep work that kills. Most painter will tell you if you ask them how much to paint a car will say " Painting is cheap, getting ready to paint costs a fortune. " and I believe them lol.

This. I was gonna guess anywhere between $3K to $5K.

Doing paint correctly is a lot of work and time. Remove bumper covers and paint separately, remove all trim pieces, reassemble it all. It's a day or two of work before the car even rolls into the booth.

With a color change, if you want it done right then that means all the jambs are getting prepped and painted as well. Otherwise every time you open the door or pop the hood the old color will be there.

Of course you could always find one of those Maaco sort of places to knock it out for under $1000 but the quality and attention to detail won't be there. They just mask stuff off (poorly) and go for it. And then a year later the paint starts flaking off due to **** poor surface prep.
