F8AE-6015-AA-9 Engine Casting?

huh. I looked up that part number and it's telling me that's a 4.6 engine block. strange. I assume you can tell the difference between a Windsor and a Modular V8. I wonder if there was a change in part number strategy sometime along the line.

they used to work that way, they don't anymore. now they are like any other Ford part number; the first character is launch model year, the next two are the lead vehicle program, and the last one is the releasing authority. e.g. the part # for the 2011 5.0 engine block is BR3E-6015. B=2011, R3=Mustang, E=Powertrain.

I'm not exactly sure, might have been right around Y2K. stuff changes way too often for the old way to work anymore.
