In that case, there should be a switch under the dash (driverside) that you can flip while ignition on and turn the light off. Then when you arm the alarm it will flash. Will remain unlit until alarm is armed. At least thats how it is supposed to work.

the light is so the thief looks at the car next to yours, doesn't see a light and hopefully steals the one w/o a light.

The passive whatever from ford on my 96 worked, I used to set it off on accident all the time. The 2000 just has the light so I got a viper.

That is correct, but the light is supposed to blink. Dont ask why. Most alarms that have a solid light means that they are in valet mode. Therefore if you you want to disable your alarm or are having your parked you dont have to worry about the alarm going off.

For about $5 you can go to a Radio Shack & buy a blinking red LED. Stick it somewhere on your dash & the crooks "think" you got a hi tech alarm system, and steal your neigbors car instead ROFL

all the blinkign thing does is tell an intelligent theif, that its going to take another days planning

that way when they DO steal your car, they do a better job of it and are less likely to get caught, which in turn screws the owner over

so i think its actaully an inside job by theives inside ford designing.. bastards!
