2014 GT Airbag light on
I have a '14 GT that came with cloth seats. I purchased a full set of leather that I believe was from a wrecked vehicle and unknown year but it was a direct bolt in so I assume that they were 2011-2014. After installing them, the airbag light came on. I didn't know if the seat bags deployed so I purchased airbag sensor resistors that were supposed to turn the light out but they didn't. A friend used a code reader but couldn't reset the light. I then paid to have the airbags taken out of the cloth seats and installed in the leather ones but the light is still on. Again we tried the code reader but it didn't work. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I get the light to reset?
If you did not disconnect the battery when you replaced the seats, you faulted the airbag
system. I know on my VW, if I do this, I need a tool to reset the SRS light. Even if
I unplug the SRS light from the bezel with battery power, I need to reset the SRS.
With my '08 Mustang, the SRS light did go out when I plugged the SRS light back in, but
that's not true for all cars.
If the seat bags deployed, the seatback or cover would be new, else there would be a huge hole
in the side of the seat. You'd have to remove the cover(s) to see if the airbag is in there, it's
attached to the seat frame.
Sample air-bag deployment:

Replacing the airbag in a seat is a lengthy process, so I doubt you bought one that had been deployed. I also
doubt a scrap yard would replace all the internals and seat cover, then sell it. It's not worth it for them to do
that, they may as well sell it at almost retail. So, more then likely, something else is wrong.

When I bought these seats, there was some dimpling on the left side of the drivers seat where the airbag was. I had a local upholstery guy pull the leather side of the seat tight to get rid of the dimples. When the airbag resistors I bought to trick the computer/light didn't work, I paid him to come back and take apart my original stock seats, take the airbags out of BOTH of them, then take apart the new leather seats and put those airbags in those seats. He removed the leather off the seat back, installed the airbags, and reconnected them. I disconnected the battery, reconnected it, and the light came right back on. My mechanic tried to use his code reader cpu to reset the light but it didn't work. The light is still on. I just want the light to go off.
The battery should be disconnected from the START, not disconnect than connect after
the fact... What I mean is, before you unplug any airbag harnesses, the battery
should be disconnected. Then, not reconnected till the seats are in, and all the
harnesses are plugged back in. Unplugging and plugging in harnesses with power
risk deployment, or registering a deployment. If that happens, the SRS module needs
replaced.
If he plugged a tool in, what was the fault code? You said he tried to clear it, but
was is the reason it's on? There should be a code set for it.
Now, you can't even put your seats back in to see if the SRS light go out, because
you put those bags in the ones you bought...

I don't know what the code number was but he told me that apparently the airbags, seat belt tensioner, and seat track module are connected to the same SRS module so now to get the light to reset, we need to change ALL the hardware from the original seats to the new ones. He also said that he believes that the SRS sensor reads all those things for 7-10 seconds every time the car starts so if we move everything, the light should go out. I might just live with it being on instead of going through all this.
I did find a solution, but it's a little involved. I had a local stereo shop (Real Audio) look at it for me. They said that they had to order wiring schematics for the seats and they had to do some wiring work. Fortunately I still had my old set and they were able to do whatever wiring they needed to get the system to recognize the new seats with the existing computer. That's all I can tell you, I don't know the details. If you want to call and ask them, it's Real Audio in Erie, PA. and the owner is Kyle, he's great to work with.
