So I have an issue. My windshield has some sort of film or something on it that is starting to annoy me. It highlights the path of my wipers, including the stop point of my passenger side wiper, right in the middle of my view. I've tried cleaning it with a clay bar, alcohol, all the cleaners I can think of, tack rag, scrubbing with microfiber, but nothing is getting rid of it. The pics are after wiping it down, so dont mind the glass looking all streaky.
I know about the steel wool trick, but I'm of course apprehensive about taking steel wool to my windshield. Anyone know of any products that might help here?
Drivers side wiper stop point The thin line is where the passenger blade stops
I get the same thing on both my cars. Replacing the wipers fixes it for a while,
but it comes back about a month later. Mine sit in the sun all day, and it basically
ruins the wipers. I put a BRAND NEW set on my former HHR, barely drove it,
went to get it inspected I was told to replace the wipers. I did, and barely drove
it. So, has to be something with the SUN ruining the blades. I am constantly
replacing blades on my VW, every 3-4 months to try and get rid of that line from
the passenger wiper. I have cleaned the window with EVERYTHING possible,
it's still there...
I had a similar water spot problem on my windshield on my TBird.
I bought some cerium oxide on EBay, it's an orange powder you use to polish glass. The shipper sent two pads with it, which attached to my drill which I used to gently remove the water spots. There's videos on YouTube on how to use it... spray water, grind a little, spray more water....
