I have a 2014 V6 premium with I believe the voice activate sync system. Is it possible to update the system to be compatible with apple CarPlay without replacing the head unit? I also have an F150 with an aftermarket radio that has apple CarPlay and I love the feature. I have tried just about everything to upgrade the sync system and nothing has worked. I tried downloading the update from my ford but I can't get it to run in the car. I went to the dealer and one tech told me it isn't possible in my car. Another told me I needed a different USB connection. At this point I am almost ready to give up. I am turning to you for help Thanks

 

As far as I know, no, you cannot update to apple car play. I think you can add certain app like pandora that work in conjunction with your phone.
