procedure for 2 upgrades needed
1986 Mustang GT 302 H.O. SEFI, 5 speed transmission.
I will be replacing the TPS sensor and adjusting the idle speed and need to know what I need to do first and the procedure of what I need to plug/unplug and when. I won't be adjusting the timing because it was just done.
Do I:
1. Warm up the engine,
2.Unplug the IAC with the engine running,
3. Adjust the idle speed via screw under throttle body to around 700,
4. Plug the AIC back up and let the computer learn the new setting by driving it for about 5 minutes.
Then to replace the TPS:
1, I shut the engine off,
2.Unplug the old TPS,
3. Plug in the new TPS and do a rough setting on the car,
4. Turn the key on but not start the engine
5. Get my voltmeter and adjust the voltage to just under 1 volt, and once I reach under 1 volt, tighten down the TPS and I'm ready to roll.
The one thing I'm not sure of is: since I'm not messing with the timing, do I need to remove the spout by the distributor until all/any of the above procedures are done?
