Default 2006 gt rear end problems

just paid $1300.00 to have my 2.55 gears changed to 4.10 and came back with a whine. took it back, they changed another set and still whines, they went back and forth with Yukon gears and Yukon said that my housing was bent from drag racing and that it was .002 out so they had a heel /toe contact and that I need to replace housing. has any of you heard of this, or are they just blowing smoke?

you mean 3.55 gears to 4.10? Anyways, regarding the whine. a few things.
1) Did they simply replace the gears or did you have them do a complete bearing/seal replacement?
2) Is the car lowered? If it is, the Pitch angle needs to be checked and adjusted if necessary.
3) Most after market brands have been known to have some amount of whine in them. FRPP (Ford) are the only ones that don't seem to suffer from it. What FRPP does different than every other aftermarket gear mfg for the Mustangs? No idea but, I've seen a whine complaint come up a lot with aftermarkets.

A bent housing? Never heard of that unless the car has been in an accident and the axle took a hit or you have some type of power monster and wheel hop like crazy on a regular basis. Even then, the housing would not bend, it would crack. An axle could bend but that wouldn't cause a whine, it would cause a vibration.

After market gears is likely the problem. Ford Racing is the only way to go. Too many complaints on the internet to be anything else.

I wanted a 3.90 rear gear ratio, Yukon was the only people making that ratio. After reading many bad reviews on Yukon gears. I went with the Ford racing 3.73 gear ratio.

it has never been in an accident. Yukon gears said that because it has been on the track with slicks, it caused the housing to twist and make it off set, by about .002. the car is lowered, but never had any whine with the 3.55 gears

Of course Yukon is saying it's your car, not their gears.

Check the pitch angle since everything was taken apart to put in the new gears. If that's correct, i'd get a different brand of gears or learn to live with the noise.
