Default Need some help with 06 V6 project.

So this is my first post. I came to the forum for some help. I'm saving for a house and seen a V6 mustang for sale with a blown engine and ripped convertible top. I picked it up for $900 and fixed it up. I'm about 2,000 into it for everything. I don't include my labor because I love doing it. Anyway I was getting ready to sell it for a decent profit but I really like it and it's in great shape. The idiot who blew the engine took the govenor off and when the engine blew he drove it into bushes ripping the convertible top. So it sat in his garage with 84k miles until I came to buy it. Lol. Anyway I'm planning to keep it and turn it into a sleeper. I've done a few cars before but never a muscle car. I mostly restored Porsche's, Lamborghini's, and other exotic and super cars but never muscle cars. So I 100% need help on part selection. I have a coupple people from my racing team helping with body work and install too. Now here's the goal. We want to get this car up around a 2014 cyote. We have a plan to get it past a same year GT right now. Which is cool air intake, racing chip, dual flow exhaust conversion, and tune. That should bring it form 225 to about 320ish. Which is about what the same model year GT is pushing. The 2014 cyote is about 385 or 400 I believe. So here's my delima. From what I've read the V6 has a problem with forced induction. So what's the best next step. From the reviews I've read on the headers I'm looking at they seem like a bad cost to hp investment. I was looking in the local junk yard and at people parting out cars and found stock turbos and superchargers for about $500 but realistically can I put a pro charger or supercharger on the v6 without damaging the engine? If not what's the next best step to reach the goal. If so do you think that will be enough to give us 380-400 hp.

Thanks in advance for the responses and yes I know I could just buy a V8 or Cyote. This is an unexpected project. Also of you want to see my other projects like the restore of a totaled Countach I picked up for 20,000 and made a 220k car again let me know. I also have racing boats I worked on with Riggs racing I can post about.

Welcome.

The 4.0 is a strong engine and I don't know where you read that it "has a problem with forced induction". There are lots of them running fine with turbocharger or supercharger or nitrous. I had one that I ran nitrous on and then at 90,000 miles pulled the nitrous off and put on the Xcharger Xtreme. It was running strong still when I sold it with 203,000 on it and the guy I sold it to sold it with 250,000 on it and as far as I know that car is still up and running.

The only time the 4.0 has issues with forced induction is when you try to run dual power adders. It won't handle that.

What is a "racing chip"? Do you mean one of those resistors that are sold on ebay that trick the MAF? That will cause problems.

A cold air intake and tune will not get you to 320 by the way. You need a turbo or supercharger for that. The procharger is a good option for the 4.0; turbo you will have to fabricate yourself because no one is selling a kit now.
