Default Flywheel

Hey guys I have just finished putting in a new transmission for my 96 mustang gt. The problem I am having is after I tightened all of the transmission bolts, the flywheel wont turn so I can put the torque converter nuts on. Everything is lined up but it just will not turn when I put the socket on it and try to turn it. Any advice?

Pull the plugs out to make it easier to turn the engine over.

You have likely failed to line-up the drive slots on the torque converter rear hub which engage tangs on the oil pump, tightened the transmission to eng block attaching bolts, and locked-up the pump against rotating. Possible results? Broken pump hub (worst), or simply bound-up, depending on tightness of bolts. It is always IMPERATIVE to rotate the converter in place in the bell housing by hand when inserting it until the tangs are "felt" to properly engage with the pump, THEN be damned sure the converter front surface is about 1/2" BELOW the front flat surface of the bell housing, and ENSURE it does not slide outward when raising transmission into place.

Spark plugs. The engine should turn over easily after that assuming all that stuff from IMP is not true.

Correct. That stuff from imp has unfortunately happened so many times over, it's documented throughout the forum.
