Default Turning the flywheel

So I've had a few people tell me that the stock flywheel shouldn't be turned, that i should replace it, any truth to this?

you have to rebuild them, not turn them... im not exactly sure how it works, but i sent mine off to McLeod for rebuilding (McLeod makes the stock clutch and flywheel for our cars)
McLeod is located in Southern Cali so you'll just have to ship it to them, turn around is like a 1 1/2 weeks with shipping (mine only took 3 days)

Why would ours have to be rebuilt instead of turned? I can't really have the car down for a week and a half was hoping to do it in one day.

Im not exactly sure the details, but i believe its due to the multi-piece assembly of
the flywheel, and i think they replace the contact patch in the center.

as opposed to a different type of flywheel like the Ford Racing aluminum ones where the contact area is the whole surface, therefore easy to turn also.

if it was steel, im sure it would be turnable also

I just looked on their site ( www.mcleodind.com ) , and the only McLeod dealer in South Carolina is

Raceparts Brokerage 5545-C Hwy #9
Inman, SC 29349

they might do a faster turn around. i know it only takes them a day to do the rebuild, its just shipping time. this is what i did (granted im 45 min from them... but if they were in sc, i would have shipped it)

just my .02

Alright thanks, i think I'm going to call them tom, I've seen a couple of guys on SVTP that have had their 03-04 cobra flywheels turned, so I'll call and see what they have to say.
