Clunk from rear
Does anyone have a clunk sound from the rear when tapping accelerator or letting off accelerator or when shifting gears? Also have a rubbing sound coming from the rear when turning left or right at very low speed such as in a parking lot turning into a parking space 2009 GT 4.6 5 spd This just developed within the past 3000 miles
Clunk could be due to to the two-piece drive shaft.
Get under the car when it's cold, grab the drive shaft near the carrier bearing (it's located in the middle of the shaft) and give it a good up and down shake. it should have no play. If it has any play, it's the carrier bearing rubber bushing going out. The clunk is the loading/unloading of the driveshaft as you tap the gas. Instead of the shaft just rotating, it's getting up/down movement as well. That movement is the clunk.
Don't know about the rubbing sound. How to do the rear brake pads look?
