Default Automatic Shifter Light 64.5

My understand is the the shifter light should come on when the doors are open, you turn the light switch to the left to turn on the courtesy lights and when you turn on the headlights. Mine will not light up when you turn on the headlights. Comes on with the other cycles. Could it be a bad headlight switch?

Looks like the issue is solved. Turns out someone over the years cut the connector at the shifter and tossed the lead from the headlight switch. Found a male connector under the dash checked with headlight's off and no voltage. Turned the headlights on and had 12 volts. Have purchased the lead from CJ Pony and getting ready to install and connect to shifter light wiring. PROBLEM SOLVED!
