I have used both the Valentine and the Passport 8500. I like the Passport better for these reasons. The Passport 8500 X50 seems to be better at picking up 'pop' radar. Also, with the Valentine, it seems to give you a lot more false alarms than the X50. They are the 2 best units around, and you really can't go wrong with either. But, the Passport is less expensive than the Valentine, so I think it is the best all around buy. I will never trade my Passport for anything else.
id rather it go off and be false, then not go off and get f*cked up the a$$

Yeah, I'd hate to pay extra for a name brand.. but I do like the upgrade features along with the arrows and dual radar pickup..

From what I've been reading, if you want a wallmart special detector for > $100.. get the cobra, but they have VERY limited response time to any bands of detection, and I wouldn't trust them as much as V1, Bel, or Escort.

I'm kind've leaning toward an Escort 8500 x50.. only because the price is more reasonable. $400 For a v1 is a bit much.. and the bands are pretty close. Btw, can anyone tell me the difference between the 8500 X50 Red and Blue? The blue is 50 more, and I can't figure out why? Color preference lol?

It seems to me like a matter of preference.. some people prefer the Escort 8500 x50 because it doesn't "false" as much as the Valentine 1.8, and has similar stats in the "K" bands, not to mention $150 less.. Others prefer the Valentine 1.8 over the Escort 8500 x50 because it can pickup the faster z series pop guns (16 ms), picks up some types radars on stealth mode that the Escort doesn't, and has the arrow system (which will send mixed signals with overhead bridges, some brake lights, and road signs). So I guess it comes down to what kind of driving you do and which you prefer. Can anyone swallow their pride and say whether they've gotten a ticket since having either? Or a bel?

i have the 7500, have had it for about two years. I love it. Mixed driving, some spirited, mostly sane driving and I've yet to get a ticket. There's a few times that I bust out on the highway and get tagged by a sheriff coming the other way, but I see the Ka about a mile away.

i thought they cant use radar when theyre going the other way cuz of the way it works...you hafta be standing still for the whole concept of radar to work. maybe theres newer technology...i dont kno how laser works...but i thought they had to be standing still for all of them.

Newer systems have a speedo connection. So they CAN tag you from a moving car. It'll just subtract in car speed from clocked speed and find the difference.
