Fox Body VS SN95
I say let her make the call. If I had my choice I would choose the fox, but that is my preference.
'90+ had airbags.

Your going to buy a v8 for a 17 year old???? get her a v6 stang, and the 94+ do have airbags and 4 wheel brakes and safer then the older foxes. I ve been alot of close calls and even minor accidents in my fox, i m lucky i m a lil older and wiser now.

I actually find fwd vehicles harder to drive than rwd cars, because of torque steer and all that good-ness.
and how can you say its harder to drive a fwd vehicle in the winter... are you on crack ? or were you not saying that..
any rwd car is a bastard in the winter, and its multiplied if the teen/person is unexperianced
respect power... hmm, i dont know how you can throw this into the equation.. who at the age of 16 having just got their liscense 'respected' the power of their car..
it goes as such : the more power, the more likely you are to use it... not, the more power i have, the more i respect it therefore less likely to do so
Heh, what's winter? A couple days a year it'll be below freezing here... for a couple hours
anyways, when it was wet and i was driving my friend's RSX, at a stop light i started to go, one wheel slipped, the other gripped, and i ended up in the next lane without knowing it
[sm=icon_flaming.gif] Now let the flaming of fwd cars and/or rwd cars in the winter/summer begin. Dont forget to flame me for thinking rwd cars are easier to drive. Annnddd... go.

its not the matter as to how fast she goes.. tis the matter that v8 stangs have so much low end torque...if its a new thing to someone they are not gunna reralize how responcive the car is when u just tap the gas. Its so easy to kick the back end out of a v8 mustang, and u made the point of getting her to school safely every day. You're not gunna do that with a v8 stang. When it rains... it wont be safe to drive, and what about winter? WOuldnt be a good idea to let her drive ity in the winter. I seriously suggest a v6 for her. Just my opinion coming from a kid who has seen too many kids killed in powerful sports cars
I drove my mach 1 every day, snow and all, and that thing was worse than any 5.0 could ever be in the snow. no abs, airbags, traction control, nothing. im 18 and i respect power. doesnt mean I dont use it, i just dont use it when its not appropriate. I would consider waiting till after the winter to get it though, so she could get used to driving it all year. You could also take it to a parking lot on a wet day so she can get used to controlling the car when it spins out. just make sure shes a good driver first, because you mentioned crashing the car, but you dont want her to get hurt. but personally i like the 5.0 hatchbacks better than the sn's.
I looked at the Foxbody on my original post. Believe it or not, they wanted $5,999 with 179,000 miles on it. For that price I can purchase a 94 5-speed with all the newest safety features with 84,000 miles.
Actually, Crystal is willing to go with either model. She just wants a reliable car with a mean sounding exhaust system. She trusts our judgement too because she knows I will get her the best deal for the money and not a POS. If I can get her a GT for the price of a V6, then so be it. Not only that, she has learned how to drive on the GT, so why not get her one of her own.

i am SO offended right now. lol. i am 18 and have not gotten in any trouble with my 03 gt. like somebody said before....you just hafta respect the power. never been in an accident and until today actually i had not gotten a ticket.
but you cant blame he car on the ticket....it was for my window tint. (dont get me started...i wanted to punch the cop in the face...who pulls somebody over and gives them a ticket for tint??????!!!!) ugh. anyways. yes. respect mixed with a little fun can be a good thing. you hafta make sure the person has a good head on their shoulders.
that was a pointless rant. sorry.

Id say let her decide what one she likes best after driving the two. But if your makin her pay for all of it shes going to respect it. I bagged the **** outta my dirtbikes before i got my stang. This was mainly because my dad bought the dirtbikes for me. Once i turned 15 my dad loaned me the 7500 i paid for my stang. Ive been workin my *** off payin it back to him and puttin the odd mod on it. Having the pay for it made it respect it a lot, jus because Ive had to work so hard for it and I dont wanna **** it up. As for the v8 thing, Id say go for it, Im 16 n only have had my license for bout 5 months now and accident and ticket free.

Make her pay for it, and then she'll respect the car more.

Not us. If she wants a car, she will be a responsible owner. She will pay for the car itself, gas, all maintenance costs, registration and insurance. We figure if she pays for all of it, then she will take really good care of it. If she messes up, she will have to save up from scratch for another one.
Welcome to the real world!
