Default Is a SN95 a good buy ?

Hey guys, i'm looking to buy a SN95 5.0 GT Mustang with 40,000 miles for about 8,500$ US. The car looks in great condition. It has never been driven out in winter and the previous owner is an old man. Anyways, I wanted to know if it would be a good buy. I've read the previous post named "Fox Body VS SN95" already and I don't really want a foxbody.

My question is : can I easily modify a sn95 5.0 without putting too much money on it?

I plan on keeping this car for a while and I want it to be my daily driver. The most important thing for me is to be able to easily modify it (I'd like to reach a minimum of 300 hp with it) without ruining my budget.

By the way, I'm 20 and this is not my first car.. so don't worry.. i'm gonna take care of it and I certainly am not going to drive like a madman!

Thanks a lot guys!

Depends how much money you consider "too much" H/C/I (header, cam, and intake) can run you right around $2k, ($1300 heads, $200 cam, $500 intake) maybe a tad bit more for some top of the line stuff, add some exhaust and you gots yourself a pretty mean car

Then you'll want to replace the clutch, maybe rebuild the rear end.

Put on some sweet wheels, new tires.

Then again, if you're gonna end up doing all that, you could just go for a higher mileage car possibly and spend the money on the engine. One with 80-100k miles should be around $4.5-6k

Dunno, it's up to you, but i wouldn't spend $8500 for a SN95, Blue Book value for that car is only around $5k

The price on that one is a little high. Keep looking, but the SN-95 5.0 is a really good car, and you can mod it almost as easy as a Fox. It's the same engine.

Alright guys,

For some reason, the mustang's here in montreal seem to be more expensive then in the us... I've been looking on autotrader.ca and I just can't seem to find a mustang in the normal "blue book values". Also, won't a car with 80-100 miles have it's share of problems or are they just really good motors ?

Finally, if money would not be a restriction, would it be better to buy a 99+ GT instead considering the price difference ?

Thanks again

Hey Doom you're in MTL ? so am i the prices you're posting are they in Can$ or US$ ? if they are in Can$ then yes it sounds like a good deal, remember to check out the underside of the car thoroughly, the first 2 mustangs i owned were a pain in the butt, i could've easily avoided that by closer inspection of the floor... it's rust festival down here with our crappy and salty winters!![:'(] i brought my current stang to the ford dealer to get it approved and checked it out inch by inch on a lift before buying it. good luck with your search. try getting the HEBDO.NET magazine and check out their site too, that's where i found mine. LESPAC.COM is also a good place to check.[sm=smiley20.gif]
