Default Charging System for my 68 Mustang

I have a 1968 Mustang Fastback 289 ci. with 36,000 origional miles. Until recently it's been sitting in my garage for nearly 16 years. During that time I replaced the alternator and starter solniod. A few weeks ago I noticed the head lights were getting dim while I was on my way to work and then it stopped running. It takes a jump and then after a few minutes the lights get dim again and it shuts down. When I removed the neg terminal wire (while the car was running) the car kept running briefly, then eventually (30 seconds or 1 minute later) it stopped again. Today I had the alternator tested and it is charging correctly (14 volts) and my battery also checked out okay. I decided to replace the voltage regulator but that hasn't fixed the problem either.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Man you're fast!

Thanks I will... Actually since I sent this note out I found a wire that looks like its in pretty bad shape on the voltage regulator. I replaced it and everything seems to be working fine now...

I have to drive the 69 to work tomorrow because the clutch on my 89 GT popped, or something the other day. I went to put the clutch in and I heard and felt a pop. Now it feels like I am pushing on a pillow or something and I can't shift. I had the clutch replaced two summers ago and I drive it like an old lady... Youthink maybe my clutch cabel went out? If so is that a hard fix?

Thanks again
