gear selection advice
Nice car, looks just like mine except convertible. I get more compliments on the color and the fact its a throaty Mustang.

keep in mind the other part of the equation is tire size. When you compare to other cars you also have to know the tire size. You don't need as much gear if you run a short tire. Just to give an example;
3.73 rear gears with 26 inch tall tires
gives the same performance and top speed as
4.30 gears with 30 inch tall tires

4:10's all the way!!Don't be one of those guys that wished he went with 4:10s and by the way you shouldn't pay more than 200 labor for that kind of work.I spent $180 for the gears get the frp and $200 for labor.
In spite of the previous comments about $300 being a ripoff, it isn't if the shop is supplying all new bearings, differential lube, friction modifier, and most importantly, does the job right the first time
with 4.10s your top end will actually be increased, you now have higher revs so when you shift into O/D at the end of 4th gear you will be in the powerband, so you will have like a whole extra gear, the reason people get crappy milage with 4.10s is because they have their foot in it more to because they make the car faster.
