can someone explain to me what is overdrive on a auto mustang, what does it do and is it better to race at the track with the overdrive on or off

 

Overdrive off at the track unless you're red-lining third by the end of the run. Overdrive is your 4th, overdriven gear (ratio numerically less than 1.0). When you turn your overdrive off you are stopping your transmission from shifting into 4th gear. An overdrive gear is best for high speed cruising, you have very little acceleration in overdriven gears.

 

i turn mine off when im foolin around or racing at top speeds because of my speed lmitier,as for the acceleration in the first 3 gears,i dont think o/d on or off affects this even tho it may seem it does..
