Default 390 FE

I know this is a pretty dumb question, and i'm pretty sure it has been answered already... But I just happen to have a 390 FE block sittin around in my garage. I don't suppose there's any way that little thing could fit in my gigantic engine bay?

I've pondered the same question, I've got one sittin in my '76 f150 and stock they are heavy engines but they produce A LOT of torque near 400 ft. lbs. and like 335 hp. It'd fit, it's very possible, if I remeber right they sell a fox conversion kit for a 460, I know that it's not the same block and all but it really isn't worth it. You'd spend the same amount of money getting the transmission and making that FE fit in there as you would stroking your 5.0.

Ah, that's true. Well it'd be nice anyways. Thanks for the input, time to think up some other crazy plan.

a 460 and 390 are differant motors, the 390 is a bigger motor, aka like a wedge motor but not that big

390 is FE series motor. VERY heavy for its size. Much heavier than 429/460 motors.
Installing a 429/460 (aka 385 series) would be easy enough but getting the car to work won't be.
A Fox body 'stang, stock with a 5.0 has about 55% of the wieght on the front end. If you did a 460, you could have as much as 62-65% on the front end.
Sounds like courting disaster to me.
BTW, I use a 390 in '59 Ranchero and they are very durable. They were also designed about the same time as the first Sputnik was luanched too.
