help? broke my winter beater
So I went to replace the upper control arm and ball joint on the rear suspension of my '88 Honda Accord. Not for fun, but the other side broke and this side had a lot of play in it, I figured it would break pretty soon. Anyways, I got the arm off, but there is a castle nut holding the ball joint to the rest of the suspension. The "castle" parts of the nut have rusted away and the nut is pretty unrecognizable so there is nothing to grab on to to loosen it. Any good tips on how to get the nut off? I tried a grinder but cannot reach the bottom of the nut. Thanks.

RE: help? broke my winter beater
hang a rag from the gas tank and when you throw a cigarette out the window have it catch on fire
could you get a hack saw in there to cut it off, and a crap load of WD-40

i saw first try by using heat and dw-40(not at the same time) and then try to losen it up with vice grips if that doens't work then yea cut it off with a hack saw or some power tool.

Ha, yea my brother suggested grinding off the VIN tag and taking the plates off and ditching it. I found a Dremel tool that cancut through an exhaust hanger, shouldn't have a problem with a nut. All this just to keep the salt off the stang for the winter...
