Default New Body Panels

Just bought a replacement fender for a 1965 Fastback. It is black and I was wondering does it need to be sanded and/or primed before painting? Thanks for the help.

Default RE: New Body Panels

I would take a scotch-brite pad to the black e-coat that was applied. Make it nice and dull and than I would put on a good primer and than apply your paint. That is what I do anyway. But you must make the panel dull before you apply any paint or primer.
