Hey all, I'm new here, but always wanted a stang...I'm looking at a '01 GT Premium right now,5sp w/ stock everything, and 56K on it. The owner is the 2nd owner, bought it from a dealer trade-in. He got it w/ 33K on it...
Since he's had it, the only maintenance he has done was oil changes, two new rear shocks, and new tires about 20K ago.
I drove it, and I have some concerns...it seems to have a bit much on the front end dive...don't know if it may need new shocks. What's normal?
The big concern I have is:
when driving around 2500-3000 rpms there is a sound coming from the dash which I can only describe as a "whirr/rattle" almost as if the defroster fan is blowing backwards or something...it does it when coasting/slowing..and I can get it to do it when sitting still.
could be just the dash rattling, or could be something more?
also, he hasn't done anything to the brakes, and they feel fine, any thoughts on how long they should last?
This car is in Southern California...

oh, and he's asking 12K..i've already talked him down to 11,300, hoping I can get it down to 11K...thoughts?

The price sounds good, if I where you i would find a company in your area that is a lemon finder. it cost about $75 but they will tell you anything that is wrong with the car. They will drive the car and you can point the noise out to him and he can tell you what it is. And usually if you buy the car and there is any problem with it after you buy it, they will buy it back up to a certain point. And he will tell you any problems with the car after he goes over it to.
