since ive been away at college, my stang hasnt been started alot, last time it was started had to have been at least 1 month, i started it tonite and after a few mins i revved it a little bit, once i let my foot off the pedal, it stayed rev'd for a few secs, then went back down to 800 rpm, is there any reason why it did that? if so, what should i do?

shouldnt be a problem if the car was only sittin for <1month

 

dont rev it while its cold,[sm=nono.gif] wait for it to start to warm up so the oil can get moving through, and dont shut it off until it has reached normal operating temperature. i would personally not start it until you drive it, cause idleing it will help the battery, but its not good to keep doing that to the car.
