Default Steel Rims and Snow Tires

I'm new to this forum and been trying to search for info on snow tires for my car. Unfortunately, what ever I try to search for on the Search page comes up with errors, but that's another story for another time. Anyway, I am looking for input from anyone out there who drives their Mustang all year round and has to deal with snow. I have a 02 GT with with 17" rims and would like to purchase smaller steel rims and narrower snow tires. I would like to go with a 15" steel rim and a 215 tire with a much taller sidewall. Does this work with the GT brake system? Has anyone done this and know what's the smallest rim and tire combination I can go with?

Thanks,

Jason

From what I've heard, a taller side wall helps. I was thinking that a smaller rim will allow me to get a taller sidewall. But this is why I'm posting the question.

Yes. A shorter tire width will cut through the snow and get to the pavement better than a wider tire.

16" rims are as small as you will want to go. They already look rifdiculous LOL.

Here is my old GT with 16" steel rims with 215/65/15 tires
