i tend to look and see how many people agree. if there are 10 replies and 8 are saying the same thingk then chances are the 8 are wright. that and there are some members that just know what they are talking about and i have learned who they are.

ORIGINAL: pj1010

No...it's fairly easy to tell if they know wtf they are talking about from their posts...or previous posts.

The only reason I will look at a profile is if a question or my answer pertains to a certain model year range and that info is not included in their sig. Sometimes when considering advice I'll once again look to a person's sig to see if there is some indication of them having personal experience with the subject at hand, if that's not indicated in their post.

We have quite a few members here that I would consider very creadible when it comes to tech info. Our system is pretty good for checks and balances, and our members tend to comment pretty thoroughly about issues. This is the way I see it. We have a lot of people here who aren't experts across the board, but often those members have an 'area of expertise' where they contribute. And we have a lot of those type of individuals here, which helps to keep this forum balanced and informative.

What makes things difficult is with someone like me, ive been into fox body birds since i was 15, im going on 21 in march, so i have a large amount of knowledge on fox bodies, and cars in general, ive rebuild small block chevies when i was 17, and done more work to cars than people 3 times my age, but because they see im a newb, or they see that im young, i get disrespect based upon that and my knowledge is disregaurded

i was in the turbo dodge scene, the 2.2L turbo k-cars and whatnot, since i had one, i kept the same username i have now, and i could answer a question, and i know my answer is correct since i had the experience with the topic, then 3 posts down, someone could post nearly the exact same thing i said, and then everyone would say "listen to that guy, he knows what he's talking about", when i already posted the answer

but to answer the question, i generally dont look at profiles. When i ask a question, i usually have a slight idea of the answer, or what the answer could be, and i usually ask for a confirmation, so if the answer sounds decent, ill follow the advice. If it sounds fishy, i either use their answer as a basis for some research, or i wait for another answer.

Exchange of tech info here for my vehicle is virtually non-existent, so for usable Mach 1 information I go to a Mach-specific site. I stay in the V6 forums mostly on here since we also have one of those which has been mildly modded. 2V GTs I mostly leave to those members that have them, except for items common to both the Mach and the GT, such as transmission and gearing issues. Snakes, I admit I know nothing so I say nothing.
