IMPROVING MPG ON 65 MUSTANG
Am driving a '65 Mustang (AT/200/CID) and am wondering if it is possible to squeeze any more mpg's out of this ride. Here are my questions:
1). Any tangible mpg benefit in changing my AT to a 4-speed manual?
2). Or what about upgrading to a 5-speed manual transmission? (where would I get one?)
3). Also, will an exhaust header do any good?
Thanks for any help any of you can give..

That's an inline 6 right? Old points & condenser timing? Try swapping electronic ignition for some improvement.
A header would help yup, will also make the car sound a bit nicer too.
Swapping in a manual tranny just for improved mpg? Sounds like a lot of work for just that, Unless you want a manual trans for other reasons too. Probably a 4 speed would be sufficient because your powerband isn't very wide on that engine.
