Where the hell did this myth that higher octane makes your car faster come from?

As a GENERAL rule of thumb, higher compression engines require a higher grade of fuel...

in a proporly tuned car enve a lower compression engin like 9 to 1 can have hp gains buy using higher octane.

Advancing the timing will generally result in more power, but only to a point. Advancing the timing can (most times will) mean you need to run higher octane. BTW I saw someone mention Avgas, bad idea, I know the old timers ran that stuff and thought it was better, but think about avgas for a moment. Avgas is blended to be used at very high altitudes and in engines that run at low RPMs, the exact oposite of what your car engine does.

and i didn't mean you could expect to get 30hp out of it buy advancing the timing and running 93 but you can get a little out of it.

The same place that gave all these **** the idea that you need downforce on a front wheel drive car... THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS!!!!!

However, those ****ty wings you see on the back of civics... set up properly, they will give some beneficial properties to your cornering abilities.

But you still won't see one of those things on my car. Hell I wish I could get rid of my stock wing.
