oil leak
got a problem, need of help, i started my stang up tonight and let it run at idle for a few mins, i looked underneith and saw a couple oil spots developed, sorta near the x pipe-muffler area, any idea where that oil came from and waht the problem could be, im actually bringin the car into a garage next week, so i can just tell them what the problem is so it can be resolved, thanks alot

RE: oil leak
if it was coming from more of the rear of the car, it could be diff oil or tranny oil. crawl under there and look at the bottom of the diff, if its leaking there should be some oil on the bottom, and check the seal all the way around it, run your finger around the seal. or look at the bottom of the tranny, if theres oil on there. oil always picks up road crud, so if there is a dirty spot under the tranny or diff that is all black and sludgy, that is most likely your problem, its mostly pretty easy to see where the oil is dripping form, but it can be a pain to find where its actually leaking from.

RE: oil leak
i was kinda fretting about something like this as well, i was driving kinda slow, kinda fast, and a dog ran out. so i swirved a bit and hit the cirb, i was choked. but when i looked underneath my car i saw dripping, in that area, turns out it was just water from the cats. least thats what ford service center told me.
your drip spots could be just dried salts+dirt.
something to consiter if you don't find any leaks.
