Default spark plugs and high idle

I just changed my plugs in my 99gt (don't think previous owner ever changed them). Anyways I'm 99% sure everything was done right, gap and torque, however my car is idling right around 1000rpm, it was a hair under that before, but I was just curious what could be wrong, or is this normal? sorry I'm not too car savy, usually I take stuff to the mechanic, but I'm trying to learn some things since buying the mustang about a month ago. thanks for any replies.
