carfax is junk, it only goes by whats reported

you are right prime time. my parents cars always get there oil changed at a shop and the shop never sends it to car fax or whatever. i think the only people that do the car fax junk is like the ford dealership. or if the car has been wrecked or something. my car doesnt say anything under car fax except the make and model. it doesnt have any services. so...the normal person would think my car has never had an oil change or maintance i guess. i wont ever spend my money on a car fax.

my buddies stang was totaled and he bought it back, fixed it up and driving it daily now. Wrecked it like 4 years ago and carfax still shows clean. He could sell it and nobody would know the difference. Dont trust that stuff, too many ways around things these days!!

Carfax is just another tool. It only shows what is reported. I would still look at the car, but it is the best way to see if a car had the miles rolled back. It also shows how many different people titled it and where.
When it comes to buying a used car, use every tool that is available to you.
