Default RE: MAF sensor

thanks for the reply...i think i will buy the underdrive pulleys for now and look into the throttle body, throttle body spacer and MAF some more. Im having trouble finding performance heads and camshafts for my 2000 v6 so if anybody knows of any sites that sell these please post them. thanks!
1. Drop the spacer. It's a waste of money. NO GAIN AT ALL.
2. www.supersixmotorsports.com for the heads and cam
3. If you are going to add serious power, like a S/C, T/C or N20, get the MAF.

Default RE: MAF sensor

03YellowPony actually the spacer will help a little, but more gains are seen on much higher horsepower engines that need more air.

On his car as it its he will not feel any difference but what it does is increase plenum which will increase torque more then hp. Adding a spacer could be the last ditch effort for alot of guys trying to get just that much more edge.

Now I can not condone the price people want for these things, I have seen them at $200+ and thats just stupid and lame for the power to cost ratio. Another thing, you really wont see much difference untill about 1" after. I prefer 2-2.5" spacer because you can still work with your stock TB cable and if your car is light enough and has enough air flowing through it you may feel a diff.

One last thing, for what most shops are asking for the crappy 1" you can take the design and have a machine shop cut you one out of billit at any size you want for a little less than what they want.

Good luck.

PS. Dont upgrade the maf till you upgrade your fuel injectors and valvetrain or intake. Your doing great though. I know it seems weird to do different mods before others when it seems like good sense to do it then but in some cases you will loose power or responce untill another item is added, just like the maf, you can actually lose torque, and alot of it, I experimented around with a larger maf and a maf-less tune, no fun at all, no torque.

Key word of advice, save the couple grand and get the SuperSix Stage3 heads, cams and sheetmetal intake, you wont regret it. Later on, save another 3G's and get the build 4.3L stroker and slap a NOVI on it and make over 500 ponies with your sixer. Your stock block is only good for 350-400ish, I have seen a couple people push it on 450hp.
