Default Powder coating ...... ?

While my motor is torn down to the block i was thinking of getting some parts powder coated. I'm not too sure how things would turn out cuz i've really never seen a 5.0 with powder coated or painted motor parts. Anyone have any pics ? I know a guy who does powder coating and does it for fairly cheap. Would painting the parts myself be a better idea ?

I assume you mean brackets, valve covers etc? I would powder coat if it were me, it's much tougher and is pretty much maintinance free.

Powder coating will hold up better, and if you know someone that'll do it cheap, then go for it.

Powder coat is the toughest low temp coating known to mankind.

Powder coat or POR-15. Powder coat is strong, but standard powders won't handle high temp. Most cure/flow out from 350-400 degrees. POR-15 you can brush on yourself, and it will look just about as good, and be nearly as tough. Plus, you can touch it up should you ever need to. POR-15 now offers engine kits for around $45 in many OEM engine colors (which most good powders should be able to do also), much cheaper than powder coating...

BTW, here's a piston I powder coated myself. Just a paperweight, but looks pretty cool, IMHO...
