I love my AFR 205's ( Air Flow Research ). GREAT flow numbers for the money. 2.08 intake / 1.6 exhaust valves, 58cc combustion chamber, and over 300cfm on the intake runner at a mere 0.550 lift.

Definitely my suggestion.

afr heads are designed to work with edlebrock intakes infact when you call them to order they should ask you what intake you are running.

The AFR 205's are right around $1800 with valves / springs and are designed for a 351w block. If you're putting them on a 302 based block, you'll want to get the head adapters since the bolt holes for a 351w are 1/2" instead of 7/16" like the 302 block. The 58cc combustion chamber allows increased compression vs the standard 64cc 351w heads. Since the AFR's have 2.08" valves, make sure they will clear the valve reliefs in the pistons by calling the manufacturer. The 300cfm intake runner indicates how well the heads flow at a 0.550" valve lift. You can find flow numbers for Edelbrock on their site to compare them to the AFR's. Major difference between them.

Good luck!

You are aware that YOUR 205's are way way too big for a mildish 347 right? This is a classic case of "what I bought works for me so it's the best for everyone". At most he needs a 185. Your 205's are great for a 408 but not really the right choice in this case, UNLESS he goes with a huge cam and big gears.

It is eh? If you say so Mr. Moderator.

The question was, "What's the best kind of heads", so I answered honestly that I like my AFR's and would suggest AFR as the best kind of heads. Then I was asked, "What exactly do those numbers mean", so I answered that as best I could off the top of my head. He never stated desired power numbers, so all that can be done is to answer the questions as asked. If the question was, "What's the best kind of heads for my 347 stroker application to build 300hp", the answer would be different.

For all I / or you? know, "UNLESS he goes with a huge cam and big gears" could be applicable.
