Just curious...
im confused, if i have a 94 gt stock, and say it will go around 135ish... well if i get 4.10's like every one says i should, its gunna lower my top speed, with the same car just diff. gears, to like 90-100? pls help me clear this confusion up, thanks
Listen... 4.10's will not lower your top speed because a stock stang simply does not have the power to red line 5th gear.....even with 4.10s.
Now if a stock mustang couldin fact redline 5th, then yes your top speed would be lower because you would hit redline a little earlier. but since 5th is such a tall gear, 4.10's make 5th slightly more efficient (for accelerating) than with the stock 3.27's
i don't think i can make this any simpler to understand

Top speed is limited by power? Since when? If that is the case then we should be able to put the same v-8 hooked up to the same rear end gear - put it into a big ole delivery van - matching the over all weight of the mustang of course - and then race the two vehicles side by side for top end. And what you are saying is that the box will go just as fast as the stang?
Airodynamics mean nothing... new concept
Gear ratios mean nothing... new concept
Wow, I can buy a delivery van a lot cheaper than a stang... maybe I should? Wouldn't that be cool? A hot rod Ryder truck....
