Kinda crazy that this newb seems to have 2 relatively new and nice cars and 1 thats decent from its own time. But why come on here and have one of your first posts downgrading Stangs. Not a good way to start out on this forum. Maybe not new, but you can find a used 03/04 Cobra with under 30,000 miles on it for around $27,000. The 99-04GT and the 350Z are about the same in power and the Stang can be had for way less. I got my 01GT with 45,000 miles on it for $10,300, now a 350Z with the same miles would be about $18,000. A few bolt ons and tune on a Stang, way more power. A few bolt ons and tune on a 350Z, barely anything. I've heard that the 350Z responds horribly to bolt ons and is only powerful with a turbo or S/C. And the 3.5 Altimas are quick, but it will take more than a couple of bolt ons to beat a 99-04GT.
People really need to stop comparing 4bangers and 6 cylinders to Mustangs and talking bad about them. The only reason a 3.5 Altima or 350Z has about the same power as Mustang GT's is because they are almost as much displacement and are DOHC, whereas the GT's are SOHC. And yeah the STI and EVO and SRT 4 can run Mustang GT's is because of something called a "TURBO". So basically after a turbocharged or S/C 4 banger or DOHC or S/C or turbo'd v6, than thats even with a mustang GT.

usually the heads/cam setup make all the difference.

4 valve DOHC beats out 2 valve OHV anyday. Pushrod sucks and thats why mustang engines don't have as much hp/liter as other engines.

I'm talking about the mustang v6 only though.

ya know i love my mustang, but swedish is right in his questions. everyone keeps making excuses for the mustang and ya'll keep saying the mustang can woop on other cars but only after performance mods. swedish was talking stock for stock in the same price range. myself, i could care less how fast a car goes (to a point) as long as it has looks and rides good. besides we don't live next to the audobon. swedish is right, Ford needs to do something about these engines, no power unless modified.

350z are overrated, my brother has one and that thing is not fast at all. He wishes he would of got a gt (i tried to tell him) Stock for stock a gt 05-06 takes a nissan 350z. I love the look though good engine. Ford I think doesnt put hugh hp in there engines because there looking at overall reliablity. Thats why they one of the easiest and best modded engines. Very little goes a long way in the mustang, heck all you need is a re tune and couple of other things you good to go. Look at the N/a saleen 30 more hp than a gt and i think all it is a diffrent pully or something to that effect.

Hey I stated right off the bat before anything about mods. A 05-06 gt will beat a 350s STOCK FOR STOCK. ALL I said is the reason ford doesnt put out alot of horsepwer is because they make more moneyoff the parts to mod your car, fact they would rather you buy the part from them, IF you had 450rwhp from the dealer why would you want to mod, most wouldnt (i would) but most wouldnt.............iTs all about the money.............

how are they making more money on the parts? for the most part people go to the after market for perfomance parts gears being the big exception to that. i don't think there making huge amounts of money off of gears.

this thread is full of excuses in favor of ford. but it is to be expected, there is a ford bias on these forums.

point is ford engines are selling fine the way they are, why try to put extra technology in them now to make them more efficient, ford analysts probably thought it through and they would lose money if they tried that route.

ford engines suck in the hp department (hp/liter). they make up for it in the torque ratings though.
