I agree with you what you said before the 50/50 part
you actually wont most of your weight in the front to keep the front weels from floting off the ground (this is why you dont see a lot of miatas drifting), because wonts they come off the ground you cant steer and you loose controll

this thread is too stupid for me to put my .02 in .. everyone has their opinion on it and what they think is what.. go watch some drift videos, including those of cockpit views to see what the driver does

also to make this clear NO FWD CAR CAN DRIFT, DRIFTING IS A RWD SPORT ONLY.. lol cough .. lol pulling an ebrake on a FWD car to slide isnt drifting thats just sliding or fish tailing..

also to make this clear, the pros dont "just drop the cutch" the are on the brakes entering a corner using thier heel they rev up the motor (drifting occurs at high rpm) hp maintains torque, HP is at a higher rpm than torque so get it in the meat!. then they pull hard on the ebrake with a jerk to the wheel to get their car to slide in the direction they want.. then dump the clutch and maintain the RPM in the powerband through out the corner, then shift out as they straigten..

so i put my .02 in.. ask anyone who follows the sport its what happens
thats why they have to use slick on the surface

drifting wasnt invented by the japs, it was invented by rednecks in el caminos back in the 70's. the japs just decided to call it a sport

also for best case senarios, power to weight ratio of 50/50 is as ideal as your gonna get..
How can you have a power to weight ratio of 50/50? 50/50 is 1, so if you have a 3,000 lb car, you need 3,000 hp?

no your wrong to
if you look at old old old F1 tapes (ive only seen one) they drift around the corners because they dint have mid or rear engin cars, they were all FR cars, and if you ask them what down force ws they would probly look at you funny, if you guys could find pix of a movie you will see what im talking about
and also a nother thing you could do is go to google or yahoo and type "history of Drifting" or "evolution of drifting" or something like that

He's talking about 50/50 weight distribution (front-to-rear) not power-to-weight

I read most of this thread, and I feel it made me retarded. Drifting is a coffee can tuner sport, isn't it?
