Okay, why is it that everyone is worried about keeping the RPMs high? I have been trying to be very careful about not over-revving when coming out of gear, and when I go to give it another gear, the damn RPMs jump from high to low...it seems to me that I'd want the RPMs down enough so that engine is "ready" to accept the next gear...? There is also another post about these cars hanging the revs between gears, which is basically what I am talking about. Am I missing something?

I would have to agree with you. The optimal point should be when the speed of the engine is closely matched to the rotational speed of the tranny. But I guess it wouldn't hurt for the RPMs to be somewhat higher to essentially "force" the engine down into that gear range, perhaps generating a little push.. Just like dropping the clutch when the RPMs are clearly higher than the tranny speed.
