Traction control and gears

Traction control and gears
I am thinking of changing to a 4.10 gear in my roushcharged 05 GT. I have a lot more horsepower than stock, and I was wondering three things:
1. Has anyone with significant horsepower enhancement changed to a bigger gear, and if so, can they still hook up, or is first gear useless on hard takeoff.
2. Second, what happens to the traction control system when you change the gear? Does it still function normally?
3. Finally, does anyone know of any warranty issues when the gear is changed? I went with the roush s/c for warranty reasons in the first place, and dont want to screw up the warranty with a gear change. Well, not unless it is awesome!
Any input would be greatly appreciated

RE: Traction control and gears
the gears make a huge difference in n/a cars. with all the low end torque you have now it might not give you the same gains as a n/a car unless you are at the track with some sticky tires then you can let her fly(so long as you have the clutch to hold the power). on the street 1st and 2nd will probably be somewhat useless. if you have a stick then 3.73's or 3.90s would most likely be fine. the autos could go steeper 4.10's or 4.30's even unless you have an aftermarket torque converter. how do you like that roushcharger? are they intercoooled? and one more question is it a roots or twin screw style s/c?

RE: Traction control and gears
I was thinking 3.73 might be better for traction issues. I am a 5 speed.
Love the Roushcharger. Roots style. Intercooled, and actually verywell put together. Looks like it came that way from the factory.

RE: Traction control and gears
I got a chance to ride in an 05 GT with 4.10s the other day. Its pretty awesome, but I just can't image cruising around all the time with them. Its not as bad as I thought they'd be, but I think I'll stick to the stock gears for now. Lucy, I'm about to do a Saleen charger install and have spoken to a few mustang guys in the past about gearing it up afterwards. Most do not recommend 4.10s if you are looking to be boosted over 9psi unless it is a track car. So, I dunno........I'd go with the 3.73s just to be safe. You can always up the boost on your charger and retune for more pull.
But.......take this with a grain of salt, as I don't have 4.10s AND I still don't have my charger in. I'm sure there are ppl on this forum better qualified to answer your questions than me. I'm just relaying the advice I was given.
How much are you puttin down to your wheels right now? How much boost is your roushcharger pushing?

RE: Traction control and gears
I AM GOING TO 4.10!!!
Just took her to the track for the first time. 13.29 best quartermile time, spinning down the track. Withthe Rear Trailing arms and slicks, she can definitely hande the 4.10's. I had to make an extra shift to fourth, that I wasnt used to having to do stock, or I run out of third before I run out of track. Since Im having to make the shift anyway, I may as well take advantage of it. I have calculated the RPM change in OD at 300 rpms, not enough to make any real difference, so I am going for it. Ill keep you posted

I am running a stick N/A. I love the 4:10's and still can cruise at 80 mph @ 2800 rpm's. It is a little harder to get traction on the launch, but the increased acceleration is great!
