Roushcharger?

Roushcharger?
Hey all...I am about to sell my modded '01 vette and I'm seriously considering replacing it with a new stang convertible...The only problem is that the base GT engine is a bit underpowered for my liking, and the Shelby is apparently going to soar way out of my price range (mid 30's)...I have heard that the Ford dealers are a lot cooler than Chevy about mods (Chevy basically voids the warranty if any mods are present)...So I was wondering, how much would the dealer charge to install the Roushcharger for me and keep the car under warranty? I'm looking to run in the mid 12's like my vette does and I think the supercharger would get me there...any advice is appreciated!!

RE: Roushcharger?
I paid $7,299 installed for the Roushcharger at the Ford dealership. I sold my 03 C5 which had a Vortech s/c and had 410 rwhp. The C5 was lighter and more hp, but at 12k miles it no longer felt at all like a new car. When I got rid of it I thought it drove like it was ragged out even though it still was beautiful. As far as getting into the 12's, I don't think the Roushcharger alone will get you there. I'm not into straight line racing so maybe someone else can help you with that. Most important is that I don't regret for a second going from the C5 to the 06 Mustang GT Premium.

It's going to be hard to generalize about this because it really depends on the dealership. You should check into the Ford dealerships in your area and find out if they do supercharger installs, what s/c's they will install, and how much it will cost you. Odds are that if you get a dealership that will do a Roushcharger or Saleen supercharger install for you then you will still have full warranty coverage. While you're at it (since you want to end up in the 12's) you may want to get them to install some gears (4.10's will work best for 1/4 mile times) and then go with some better tires.
Now, just be warned....a dealership install of either the Roushcharger or Saleen supercharger means you will be getting the stock tune for those setups. In other words: a very conservative tune. That is the price you'll pay, unfortunately, for keeping your warranty. A custom tune or canned tune with a handheld tuner will probably net you more power....but it could become an issue with the dealership honoring your warranty. Again, it will vary from dealership to dealership........so check around and ask lots of questions.

RE: Roushcharger?
The dealership I used would install the Saleen but I was told there would be no warranty. Only way to get warranty on the Saleen is to have it installed by Saleen. This didn't seem correct to me because I was at a Ford/Saleen dealership. I called Saleen and they told me the same thing - if they didn't install it, no warranty.
