First Oil Change - Synthetic or Not

RE: First Oil Change - Synthetic or Not
Well, I'm taking it from Houston to Atlanta this week. After I get back, it should have 1300 miles or so on it. I'll switch to syn then. Probably there is no harm either switching before or after, but I don't have the time as I'm leaving Wednesday morning to go, and I know the oil in there is good for at least 3k.

Here's how I broke my baby in. Changed oil @ 500 miles, used Castrol GTX. Changed again @ 2000 using GTX. Changed @ 5000 miles, put in Mobil 1 5W20. Changing now every 5000 miles. I always use Motorcraft filters. 5000 miles is easy to remember, and still way under what you would have to do with synthetic oil. I also rotate my tires at 5000 miles too. Works for me.

I changed mine at 1000 miles, used Castrol dino 5-20. I just changed it again at 2000 miles and went full synthetic, Mobile 5-20. I plan to change again at 5K and then every 5K. Is syn. worth it? I dunno, give me piece of mind.

RE: First Oil Change - Synthetic or Not
Theres always a millions different responses on this topic.
I took the in between route after reading many on this topic, and from personal experience of working at goodyear my entire life.
I went 250,000k on my 4.6 in my tbird, stock forever and hard driving most of the time, delivered pizza's with it for a few years, using regular Valvoline 10w30. every 3,000 miles, car is still running great.
Then I got on the synthetic bandwagon with the Mustang, still dont know why, 10$ oil changes made it well over 250k, but now I spend about 35 per oil change. something got me switched, not sure what just yet.
But I changed 1st at 500 miles using valvoline semi synthetic 5w20, then at 3000 with mobil1, and every 3k after that. Yes im stuck on the old fasion 3k 3 months. But we know how we all drive these cars, Severe duty schedule should be followed.
2 oils I will never use is Penzoil, and Castrol.

RE: First Oil Change - Synthetic or Not
I'm sticking to the ford suggested Motorcraft Semi-Synthetic, I don't care how long full synthetic may last, my warranty book says change oil every X miles, and I plan to (I don't need any hassle if I need warranty work done).
