One of the most expensive and fastFord's ever sold ($5.5 mil Shelby Super Snake) has an automatic and itis a real 'sports car'. Were I it's owner and someone said,"yea, but it's an automatic", I would just smile. My '64 Fairlane 427 Thunderbolt clone is an automatic.It makes me smile often. There is more to 'manly' than just having a stick

Just got a new 2006 Mustang GT in the Legend Lime..Love the car, its fast and fun to drive. Its my 2nd Mustang GT and they have both been automatics. (I'm embarassed to admit I can't drive a Standard..I'm sure I could learn but I don't want to be bothered) I drive my car all the time in traffic and am usually messing with the radio controls. I'm sure standards are a lot more fun especially on long-winding roads with no one around. I don't dispute the point people are making but I'm real tired of getting this insult immediately following the compliment. It leaves me seething for hours.
Does anyone else get this? Looking for a good comeback that may calm my anger.

I bought my stang with my girlfriend who can't drive stick, I grew up drving stick cuz of gradfather who used to race pro. But when your in love you gotta make sacrafices... Plus the O/D button makes me feel like I have a stick (Keep ya head out of the gutter!) It down shifts for me and I get that high RPM....

I feel your pain Auto paduan. No fear, I have never gotten that comment, and it's usually retractedin the fetal positionwhen I take doubters for a ride. I don't needa stinkin shifter to make passengers wet their pants. Ford Racing is all they need to know! Enjoy the traffic, make a call to earn more $$ to pay for upgradesinstead of whacking that thing all the time. Just my $.02.
