Opinion... Hood Pins or Hood Pin Look Alikes? Questions Too.
Hey everyone. I want pins on my hood and have been debating the drill ins or the look alike 3M tape ones.
I have a few reasons for the dispute.
1. When I do trade my car in.. I want to get the most for it.. will a moded hood get me less? Can I mess up the paint if drilling ?
2. If I put on the 3M tape ones.. will they take the paint off If I ever take them off? Is there a chance they could rip off accidently or by somoene just wanting to vandalize my car and then screw up the paint if ripped?
Im sure sometime I will trade the car in in years to come. But I want to make it my own car at the same time and hood pins I love.. I just wanna know your opinions and get some answers on the tech side.

1. i dint see why hood pins would make a significant difference in resale value, especially because its a sports car. yes you can mess up your paint when drilling the holes. BUT if you have ever used a drill before and you are carefull you should be ok.
2. the 3m tape will hold them very well, a lot of factory badges are held on with this tape along with MOST aftermarket body parts. takeing the fakies off shouldnt be a problem and it shuoldnt mess up the paint, but ou may have a slight color variance.
3. i would NEVER put the fake mess on my car, why put fake hood pins on a car? that screams rice. JMO

Your telling him to go ahead and take a risk of voiding the warranty in his car based on your research. What if you are wrong? WIll you pay for damages on his engine or whatnot when the time comes?
I advise that HE do the research... Let him go to the dealership he bought it from... fact is if the dealership wants to give him troubles on warranty THEY will.
As I said before my uncle OWNS a dealership and I can go to him for anything.

it wont void the warrenty unless the holes cause the damage. for instance, you drill the holes and 6 mos later find clearcoat comming off by the washer nozzles, there is no way that your hood pins caused this.

I have the fake hood pins from CDC and they are awesome and most likely permanent. I don't see myself taking them off anytime soon, I think it makes the car look badass...

Im wondering how the side of the link that isnt attached to the top of the hood goes under the hood since its not kept by the other side of the usually bolted part of the pin.
