to everyone their own but for me the manual is the only way to go. taking shifting out of the equation is taking some of the fun in driving out, just my 2 cents.

i know its a 5 speed, i just dont know how bad i would miss the manual i have versus having an automatic... or if i would notice the difference b/w the gears that come with the manual.. 3.31s in the auto and 3.55s in the manual. i just dont know

If you are not worried about the "Fun Factor" and would like a more consistant car get the auto. Then get yourself some 4:10's or 4:30's and a hand held programmar along with a stall convertor and your ready for some serious fun!

I as well am not trying to down anyone who buys an auto. Again, to each his own. I have a mopar with an auto and catch flack about it that ticks me off as well, so I dont want to down the auto guys.

But as far as the mustang is concerned, I feel stick is the only way to go unless you are at the track constantly. I wouldent have even went to look at or test drive the car let alone buy it if it wasent availible with a manual trans. Thats how strongly I feel about it myself.

And yes, I have heard it is a great auto, and for those who want an automatic, thats great and I am glad ford uses a good auto. I am not even reffering to which is faster either, they are near the same and when you factor in the fact that most stick drivers arent as quick as a good auto trans, they are about dead even or the autos might be a little faster.

The engine in these cars is just too damn fun to straddle with an automatic if you want to have fun. But if you want a summer cruiser, an auto in a vert might be the way to go for you.

I bought an automatic since I didn't feel like waiting for 8 months to get a stick.(I'm a very impatient person). I figure that when I graduate with my degree in engineering in a year and get a job, I will have some money to swap the transmission. Maybe even put in a stronger transmission. I enjoy my automatic now cause I'm always in nonstop traffic. Hopefully when I get the manual, I will live somewhere where I can actually enjoy it. If your looking into buying a convertible, then your probably not planning on racing it. A auto vert is perfect if you just want to cruise.

If you drive a manual now, you will def. want the manual on the GT. It seriously is the greatest thing in the world. I drive a auto f-150 during the day, and let me tell you there is nothing better than getting in my GT at night and actually controlling my car. I dunno, maybe I am wierd, but I love manuals, it makes driving so much more visceral, so much more like YOU are driving, not being driven. Just my two cents.
