Alright so I went to the track last night and did 3 runs, best being a 14.2. I just could not get traction on the stock tires with my new 4:10s! Spun almost all the way through 2nd. I still have the Pirellis 235/55/17 on there and i am shortly going to switch those out with BFG KDWs. My question is what is the widest tire that will fit on the stock rims? And also those of you that have the KDWs what sizes are you running? Thanks!

 

Tires are going to be one of the most important things to get right on the strip.

First things first, what air pressure were you running? You can lower your pressure a bit to get a bigger contact patch and better traction.

This is just a top-of-the head guess, so check it out before committing, but you could probably run 255/45/17 on the stock wheels.

You might consider buying an extra pair of wheels--slap some drag radials on there for use on the strip.

 

255/50-17 is the largest tire that will fit the stock 17X8 wheel and still have the same rolling diameter as the stock 235/55-17's.

 

My exact same problem, I am glad you asked this Q because I am also going to go with the KDW2. But i want as slim as possible on the front. SO.....someone chime in with this as well. I have 255/50-17 as the largest. What's the smallest?
