Traction Lok Off?

Traction Lok Off?
Got into my car for lunch today, and those hanging around said "light em up". Upon my return I noticed that only one tire left a pretty impressive patch while the other didn't leave a mark. Recently added a second bottle of friction modifier due to the new install of 4.10 gears. It was making a slight whining noise when making tight turns, and they suggested putting in another bottle, so I did and the noise went away. But now I fee that we might have another issue.

The 8.8 AFAIK is limited slip, not posi trak. Anyone disagree?

As for your car leaving just one patch ...... are both the rear tires same brand, size, etc? Was one of the tires on a different surface or was it wet on the one side? Drive your car at higher speeds (80-90) and see if it still whines. If it does even a little bit then whoever installed your gears didnt adjust the backlash properly.

RE: Posi Off?
Thanks for the correction; both tires are exactly the same. Only difference was that the one tire was on a totally different surface which is slightly concave to allow water to drain from the parking lot.
And no whine at 80 or 90, just the sweet sound of the exhaust!

OK, you made me research on the internet..
GM Has Positraction and Ford has Traction-Lok, both are brand names for their limited slip rear ends. Limited slip means one wheel will slip, or rotate more than the other making it possible to take corners, etc.
A locker rear is one where each wheel is not allowed to slip and is used for drag and 4x4 rock climbing applications.
As far as one wheel slipping more than the other, if both sides being equal then it is probably like MusicCity said and its the clutch pack not engaging. Possibly look to lubrication, wear or defect as being the cause for rear end clutch failures.
