maybe but I doubt it. I run faster with my 4.10's and the same set up as I did with my 3.73's. There is no way for me to tell, but I run guys with 3.55 running close to the same numbers and I beat them everytime.
IMO 4.10's are perfect for me.

I think it's the diameter of the tire that let's you hook. not necessarily the width.

Your correct in that fact too.
Cableguy is running 275/40/20's on the rear.
Those are about 1.5 inches TALLER than the stock wheels/tires.
Therefore, running 4.10 gears with that tall of tire is probably equivalent to
running the 3.55's on the stock tires overall height.
The width surely helps too, as you get more rubber on the road.
