Problem with Bassani X-pipe install!
Hey guys, I am trying to install my BAssani X and high flow (or straight pipes). Problem is we cant get the damn header bolts to release the old cats off for anything. How in the hell do you get them off? Any tips?

well i sprayed wd-40 over them let it soak for about 15 minues then went at it with an air ratchet. If you have hand tools try to slip a pipe over the ratchet for more leverage.

I dunno if yours are similar to a new edge, but a breaker bar (or a pipe on the end of your ratchet) will work wonders. just don't he-man it and break something. also, PB blaster is good for loosening up things.
extra torque and mechanical advantage ftw.

First make sure you have the right size socket and use a 1/2 inch not a 3/8 inch ratchet, then use a good quality 1/2 inch long socket extention and use a breaker bar... Oh, first soak it with antisieze and let ir sit for about 15 minutes and make sure the exhaust is cold...

The aforementioned "antisieze" is used when assembling bolts to keep them from rusting or siezing in the future. Personaly I ALWAYS use it when assembling exhaust components. It is worth the few bucks for a can of it to avoid future issues. I find it hard to believe that your bolts are siezed with the age of the car, but it is possible. If you snap one off, you are in for a whole new issue, so be careful, soak them and if all else fails, apply heat to the nuts.

sorry to say it but air rachet is right, its pretty much the only way, and it takes a whole 3 seconds with an air rachet, u will **** after you see how easy it is. I sat there for 45 minutes with a breaker bar and got nothing. See if you have a friend who can help you out or even a shop / local HS that may let you use there auto tech room?
Your thread scared me as i thought the problem was with bassani itself, but u just need to get to that damn little bolt that ford hired circus midgets to install and tighten

Yes, there is antsieze that you put on the threads and it is always a god idea with bolts that tend to rust but there is a product that is similar to WD-40 that is designed to penetrate into the threads of siezed bolts...
Yes, an air rachet is the best solution (I have a compressor and every air tool a mechanic would need...) but then you will have to take it somewhere or go by a setup...
